    cross infection policy

Why Bother? Coughs, colds, sore throats, and enteritis plague every environment in the UK. Colds go round they say. The above cost the UK Office manager many man/ women hours for as a result of one person getting a cold several can. Some are more prone to suffer than others and take time off work. (Others look upon it as a good excuse)

A scenario. Picture a diligent cleaning lady as she finishes work ringing her cloth, she has just cleaned the porcelain toilets with it and now she washes the cloth in warm water, wrings it out and hangs it up to dry in the cupboard. The following evening someone else uses that cloth to clean your telephone.

Situation! Apart from jelly in a Petri dish it is hard to imagine a better culture medium for germs than a warm damp cloth. the bugs which usually inhabit your toilets cause sore throats and enteritis.

BEN'S Solution! We combat this in exactly the same way as cleaning teams in hospitals - Colour coding plus an inteligent use chemical cleaners. (Enviromently friendly of cause!)

Example: If our diligent cleaner had used her RED cloth for toilets (along with her red mop bucket ect) her colleague would have not used it on the telephone.

For telephones we use a blue cloth and for your desk area a green one. A small jet of an alcohol based cleaner disinfectant sprayed on her blue means that your telephone is protected and if you have a cold using telephone will not automatically pass the germ to a colleague.
